The idea
Family paperwork — insurance renewals, NCT/car tax, medical letters, utility bills — has a way of surviving as loose PDFs and photos nobody files properly, until something is needed and can't be found. This system is built to run for 10-20+ years: capture everything with zero filing decisions at intake, then let AI do the organising work afterwards.
What's inside
Documents come in via drag-and-drop, mobile upload, or Gmail auto-sync, get OCR'd with Tesseract, and are summarised by Claude for dates, amounts, vendors, and document type. Fourteen category-specific intelligence agents then generate proactive, cross-document insights — "car insurance renewed but no payment found", "electricity bill jumped 40% versus last month" — and everything is scoped to specific people, vehicles, pets, or properties rather than one undifferentiated pile. A native macOS menu-bar app sits on top for status and quick actions.
Why it matters to me
The most "in production" of the household tools — genuinely operational since January 2026, with 500+ real documents ingested and running on a Mac Mini rather than a dev laptop. It's also the most opinionated: documentation is the source of truth for the system's behaviour, and the core principle — zero decision-making at intake — is treated as non-negotiable rather than aspirational.
