The brief
DUB Airspace began as a personal answer to a very local question: why is the airport noisy today? Living close to Dublin Airport's north runway makes the direction of departures matter as much as the aircraft themselves.
The build
- Airport briefing — a concise arrivals and departures view, rather than a generic radar list.
- Local context — live Dublin METAR wind is translated into a likely eastbound or westbound operating pattern.
- Animated airfield map — ADS-B positions are replayed with a short delay so aircraft move smoothly across a simplified EIDW layout.
- Phone-first PWA — an installable personal tool, built to open quickly when the sound outside prompts the question.
Why it matters
The interesting design problem was not showing more aviation data. It was making operational context legible at a glance: wind, runway, direction and the next movement all need to agree before the live map becomes useful.
