Ownership & terms
Who owns what, in plain words.
This page applies to every website or app 1Zero9 Studio (“1Zero9”) builds for you (“the customer”). Your invoice refers to it. Anything agreed with you in writing takes priority over this page. Last updated 28 October 2026.
The short version
- 1Zero9 writes the code and keeps the rights to it.
- You own your content and your data.
- A domain belongs to whoever registered and pays for it.
- Free or discounted work changes the price, not who owns what.
- Transfers, extra costs and changes are agreed in writing, before they happen.
1. The code and design belong to 1Zero9
1Zero9 writes the code for each project new, for that project, with the help of AI tools under 1Zero9’s direction. It is not a bought template or a page-builder export. 1Zero9 keeps the intellectual property in the source code, the design and layout, the reusable components and tooling, and any logo or brand mark it creates, unless a signed agreement says otherwise.
Open-source software and third-party services used in a build (for example the frameworks, fonts and hosting platforms) stay under their own licences. 1Zero9 does not claim to own them.
2. What you receive
You have the right to use the finished site or app, and to have it run for you, for as long as the arrangement with 1Zero9 continues. Paying for it, or receiving it free of charge or at a discount, does not transfer ownership of the code. Taking over the code is covered in section 7.
3. Your content and data belong to you
The words, photographs, logos, prices, events, listings and anything else you supply, and the messages, bookings and sign-ups your visitors send through the site, are yours. 1Zero9 may display and process them only to build and run your site. On request, 1Zero9 will give you a copy of your content and data in a usable form.
You are responsible for having the right to use what you give us. For personal data about your visitors, you are the one they have dealt with, and 1Zero9 handles it on your behalf.
4. Domain names
- Registered and paid for by you, in your name: it is yours. 1Zero9 only needs access to point it at your site, and will give it back on request.
- Registered and paid for by 1Zero9: 1Zero9 holds it. You may use it for as long as the arrangement continues. Moving it to you is agreed in writing, with a price and a date.
Your invoice says which applies to your domain.
5. Costs, and free or discounted work
Your invoice lists the standard value of the work and running costs, any discount applied, and what you pay. A free or discounted price is given for that piece of work only. It is not a promise of the same price for later work, and it does not change section 1.
Fees from other companies that your site relies on (for example email sending, booking tools or payment providers) are yours unless the invoice says 1Zero9 covers them. Anything that costs more than the invoice shows is agreed with you in writing before it is charged.
6. Agreements in writing
Any transfer of code, data or a domain, any additional cost, and any change to these terms is agreed in writing before it takes effect. An email from both sides counts as writing.
7. Ending, and taking the site over
Either side may end the arrangement by giving written notice, with the notice period shown on your invoice or agreed in writing. On ending, 1Zero9 gives you a copy of your content and data. If you want to take over the code or run the site yourself, 1Zero9 and you will agree the terms, price and handover date in writing. Neither side has an automatic right to demand a transfer.
8. Questions
This page is a plain-language statement of how 1Zero9 works with customers. It does not limit any rights you have under the law. If something here is unclear, ask before you sign or pay: onezeronine@gmail.com.
